The history of this celebration ways root back to Mr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the most celebrated engineer for his great work ‘Krishna Raja Sagara Dam’ Mysore, in the year 1911. He was the Chief Engineer of the Project.
Ever since 1968, his birthday is celebrated as Engineer’s Day in India.
Mr. M Visvesvaraya, was born on 1861 in the village of Muddenahalli in Mysore (now in Karnataka). He has contributed much in developing Mysore as the ‘Model state‘ of India.
Mr. M Visvesvaraya was Awarded with Bharta Ratna in 1955, for his spectacular Flood Protecting System in Hyderabad. He was also awarded the British Knighthood by Kind George V.
He has also played a major role in Road construction, Laying out most of the City Plans through Public Works Department (PWD).
Remembering this legend on his 158th Birthday for his extraordinary works and being an proud engineer.
